Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has warned temporary visa holders who flout self-isolation rules that they will be liable for deportation.

Ardern said she had a message for those who had no consideration for the health of New Zealanders.

This covered indoor and outdoor events, but not schools or universities, who would get more specific advice from the Ministry of Education.

The Government is tightening border controls, with travellers arriving in New Zealand now forced to self-isolate for 14 days from 1am on Monday. The Government's actions are drastic as it tries to contain the spread of Covid-19, but while the situation is uncertain and changing quickly, employers must abide by employment law.
