Britain’s military is to get an £80 billion upgrade as the Government announces a modernisation drive this month to get the Armed Forces ready for the wars of the future.
The Telegraph understands that is roughly what will be invested in improving military equipment over the next four years. The total over the next decade could amount to close to £200 billion.

The Ministry of Health on Sunday announced there have been no new cases of COVID-19 found in the community, two days after Auckland's move to level 1.
There was one new case found in managed isolation and quarantine (MIQ) facilities.

An ancient Greek computer more than 1000 years ahead of its time was able to accurately predict the motions of planets and stars, even when they would appear to move backwards across the sky, new research has found.
The Antikythera Mechanism was discovered in a shipwreck off the coast of Greece early in the 20th century. Archaeologists immediately suspected it was some kind of astronomical clock, but figured it was probably renaissance in origin due to its complexity.

Britain has declared that China is now in “a state of ongoing non-compliance” with the 1984 Sino-British joint declaration, which was supposed to guarantee Hong Kong a high degree of autonomy after the territory returned to Beijing’s control in 1997.
Dominic Raab, foreign secretary, said radical changes planned by Beijing to restrict participation in Hong Kong elections represented a further clear breach of the legally binding declaration.
