Prime minister Jacinda Ardern has confirmed that a patient being tested for coronavirus has the illness. It is New Zealand's first confirmed case.
The patient - who is in their 60s - is in a stable and improving condition in hospital in Auckland, she said.

The person in their 60s is in Auckland Hospital in a "stable, improving condition", Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern confirmed today from Sydney.
They are a permanent resident of New Zealand, and had been in Iran and were returning home.

A controversial bill to ban cash payments over $10,000 and impose two-year jail sentences on those caught using cash above that limit is poised to pass Federal Parliament despite bitter divisions within both major parties.
The Morrison government is set to win support from Labor to legislate the controversial crackdown, which is likely to be opposed by the entire Senate crossbench from the Greens to One Nation.
