ANALYSIS: When Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announces the new alert levels at 3pm on Friday, it will be astonishing if level 4 is not extended across the country.
In our newly acquired lingo around Covid-19, there is often talk of cases ‘downstream’ or ‘upstream’ of the initial case in the community. Upstream refers to cases closer to the source of the infection – sometimes called the index or primary case – while ‘downstream’ refers to people that may have been in contact with infectious cases we know about and have or could subsequently get infected.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — The New Zealand Defence Force is using a virtual reality platform that is helping drivers train for amphibious assault missions, a military official told Defense News.
Eight360′s NOVA is an immersive, untethered VR platform shaped like a ball that allows for 360-degree movement on all axes. Mark Baddeley, director of emerging technologies for NZDF’s Joint Defence Services, said the Army is eyeing it to improve driver safety.

A brief recent history of New Zealand’s involvement in Afghanistan shows all too clearly the incompetence of Prime Minister Ardern, Foreign Minister Mahuta and Defence Minister Henare. The last Kiwi troops left Afghanistan in May this year. There has been constant calls since then to allow Afghans who supported our efforts and whose lives would be at risk to come to New Zealand. Ardern and her Cabinet have spent the time since then in a ‘Nero-like’ consideration of the ‘immigration settings’ for this with Immigration Minister Faafoi doing his best to hide from the media outlets he used to work for as a journalist.
