Polystyrene meat trays, cups and takeaway food containers are the next targets in the battle to phase out single-use plastics, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced today.

Note from Nighthawk.NZ:

PET, PVC, PP, HDPE, PE, and Polystyrene are all recyclable. The problem is NZ doesn't have its own recycling plant to recycle these plastics. Another problem is the plastic gets contaminated with food (especially meat products) and then can't be recycled. And if it could it becomes a health and safety issue. Manufacturers have tried various products and ideas to fight the problem but none have really worked.
