The second UK-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiating round took place from 19th October to 2nd November.

Negotiators carried out 46 sessions over two weeks, covering all areas of the proposed FTA, and bringing us closer to agreeing an ambitious FTA. Between round one and round two both sides shared 35 draft texts and 25 position papers, which enabled detailed and constructive talks.

A UN watchdog is urging Helen Clark to step down from leading the World Health Organization (WHO) inquiry into COVID-19's origins, saying she "can't credibly investigate China's role" in the pandemic.

Hillel Neuer, a lawyer and activist who heads up human rights organisation UN Watch, says the former New Zealand Prime Minister should resign on account of her close ties with the Chinese government and praise of the WHO's response, which she is charged with investigating.

A local state of emergency has been declared in Napier as widespread flooding causes landslips, power cuts and evacuations.

It came as emergency services were inundated with calls for help and heavy rain continued to hit the region.

A state of emergency has been declared in Napier following heavy flooding on Monday.

"Shelter at home and avoid driving where possible," the Hawke's Bay Civil Defence Facebook page warns.

The New Zealand Defence Force has spent millions buying a Manawatū farm to expand its Ohakea air base.

The $6.4 million purchase price for the 99ha farm was about three times the average per hectare sale price of farmland in the area.
