On a Tuesday afternoon last month, around two dozen people joined a Zoom meeting to decide whether to sentence the New Zealand Government to death.

This group, calling itself a “grand jury”, was led by Australian woman Sandra Crack, who has claimed to be the “chief sheriff” of Australia.

Russian state television has broadcast an extraordinary rant about the state of the war in Ukraine, warning Vladimir Putin's regime faces "final and complete defeat".

Yakov Kedmi, an Israeli-Russian pundit and former diplomat, is usually a reliably pro-Kremlin voice. But in an appearance on the prime time show Tonight with Vladimir Soloviyev, he was remarkably negative about the situation in Ukraine.

China “has always placed Myanmar in an important position in its neighbourly diplomacy" and wants to “deepen exchanges and cooperation," Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told his Myanmar counterpart Wunna Maung Lwin on Friday, according to China's official Xinhua News Agency.

OPINION: In 2009, when at Georgetown in Washington, D.C., I attended a guest lecture about China’s nascent foothold in Antarctica, with images of its first ramshackle base. A bunch of badly attired scientists huddled outside their shack. Compared to our well-established Scott Base, it looked like amateur hour. Thirteen years on, China has five bases on the ice.

The war in Ukraine has several features with which we in Australia are already familiar. The Ukrainian state has dominated the information war in our news cycles and social media. We have seen images of smashed Russian truck convoys, Ukrainian farmers towing off Russian armoured vehicles and air defence systems, and Russian tanks being destroyed in great numbers by Ukrainian artillery, armed drones and infantry wielding lethal, mobile anti-tank guided-missile systems such as the Javelin and NLAW (next-generation light anti-tank weapon).
