Every night for more than a week, unregistered planes have been carrying unknown goods and people between China and its conflict-ravaged neighbour Myanmar – and experts believe they might know why.

China hit back on Wednesday at growing criticism by western powers of its treatment of ethnic minorities in the regions of Xinjiang and Tibet and of citizens in the former UK colony of Hong Kong.
