Here is one of those cafe's we had thought we had don, as we have been here a few times, however looking back ... and then looking back even further ... nope!

Name: Ironic Cafe and Bar
Address: 9 Anzac Avenue, Central Dunedin, Dunedin 9016
Website: http://www.ironiccafebar.co.nz

So Ironic it was...  we again as normal went early and the cafe had only just opened. Finding a park just across the road, and we wandered in and we welcomed... Looking through the cabinet, making our decision, Scone, sausage roll and a bowl of coffee... yes I said a bowl ;-)

To being a nice early spring day we decided we would sit out side ... They have a nice enclosed area that has a fireplace and I can see that it be nice sitting there in an evening setting .

Just as we found a seat the waiter came out and sit that they just realised that the didn't have any sausage roll in the cabinet today... We said surprise us with something of same price. He then again apoligised... we apoligised back because we obviousily could read ... lol

Our bowls of coffee... to be fair we did ask for this... ;-)

Our coffee's bowls arrived and yes a bowl...  Our savory scone arrived next... and... well how do I put this...

Damn! the scone was like nearly twice the size than I thought they were when looking at them in the pile in the cabinet and mine was already cut in half due to the size etc... We even said to the waiter as he delivered them to our table... saying something like "Oh shit they be larger than we thought and apparently we can't read..." and the whole savory layer that had was pretty darn good.

As we were half way through our scone the waiter came out with croissants as as the replacements he also did say they were like a dollar more than the sausage roll would have been but that was on the house... Xaria and I looked at each other and basically said that is a lot of food. The waiter did offer to get us some take away boxes or doggy bags if we wanted them however we said we will battle on. (By the way I am writing this 5 hours later and I am still pretty full)  The croissants  were also pretty darn good.

The cost was up round the $53, but the serve portions and quality was also proportional. The service was really good and quality as above was good. Ironic is a place you would go to to meet up with friends as we have done in the past, would we go back sure we would as we have actually been their multiple times in the past.

Done and dusted... so full...
