Health officials are investigating a possible case of coronavirus at a Queenstown Hotel.

A Ministry of Health spokesperson told Newshub it has received unconfirmed reports of a person staying at the Rees Hotel with the disease.

However, the hotel claims the "rumours" are not true.

"Please note that these rumours are unfounded and untrue and there has been no outbreak of the virus in New Zealand," a post on the hotel's Facebook page said on Monday night.

The Ministry of Health says enquiries are being made by the Southern DHB.

Note from Nighthawk.NZ:

Why didn't they put people in quarantine for 3 weeks... close borders. The only way to truly contain an outbreak is to restrict its movement and let it run its course.

They should have been denying flights from China and putting people in quarantine... if they complain then tough shit.
