As petrol prices seem to keep creeping up, there is finally some respite for motorists - but it won't last for long.

Gull is dropping its prices by 21 cents on Thursday and Friday, as the petrol station celebrates 21 years of business.

The discounted price will apply from 7am Thursday until midday on Friday.

"Gull's discount days are for everyone - no minimum spend and no maximum fill restrictions," says pricing analyst Crystal Feist. "Our price boards and pump prices are simply dropped from 7am today for as much or as little fuel as you like."

Regular (91) petrol would have an average price of $1.907 per litre, Feist said.

Force 10 (98) would have an average price of $2.057 and diesel $1.197.

Atiamuri, in the central North Island, will have the lowest-priced regular petrol, at $1.707 per litre, with Te Kuiti offering the lowest diesel at $1.077.

In July, fuel prices increased by 3.5 cents per litre when the Government increased the fuel excise tax.

Last month prices jumped following a drone attack on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia.
