Women in Afghanistan will be allowed to study in universities as the country seeks to rebuild after decades of war but gender segregation and Islamic dress code will be mandatory, the Taliban's new Higher Education minister said on Sunday.
The minister, Abdul Baqi Haqqani, said the new Taliban government, named last week, would "start building the country on what exists today" and did not want to turn the clock back 20 years to when the movement was last in power.

Rumours that an Auckland student's death is linked to the Pfizer vaccine are being shut down by the Prime Minister.
Jacinda Ardern said there have been no deaths to any teenagers in New Zealand related to getting vaccinated and encouraged New Zealanders to continue getting vaccinated.

New polling commissioned by a leading think tank in the UK, the Adam Smith Institute, has revealed that a significant majority of UK citizens back freer movement with New Zealand.
The new poll, conducted in conjunction with C|T Group RSR, shows that while the UK is negotiating a new trade deal with New Zealand, provisions for the free movement of citizens and mutual skills recognition should be included as part of the negotiations.
