Rocket Lab will attempt to bring an intact rocket back from space in another major step toward making Electron the first reusable orbital small launch vehicle.

Long Beach, California. April 8th 2021 – Rocket Lab, the leading launch and space systems company, today announced that on its next mission the company will attempt to bring a rocket back from space, slowing the Electron launch vehicle down from speeds of >Mach 8 as it re-enter’s Earth’s atmosphere before splashing the rocket down in the ocean. The complex mission is the next major step toward making Electron the first orbital-class reusable small launch vehicle, enabling rapid-turnaround launches for small satellites.

President Joe Biden and his Attorney General Merrick Garland announced limited measures to tackle gun violence in the United States on Thursday, in what the White House described as a first step to curb mass shootings, community bloodshed and suicides.

The new measures include plans for the Justice Department to crack down on self-assembled "ghost guns," and make "stabilising braces" - which effectively turn pistols into rifles - subject to registration under the National Firearms Act.

The Ministry of Health has clarified that travellers from Australia won't actually be required to use the NZ COVID Tracer app when they arrive in Aotearoa once the travel bubble commences on April 19.

A tweet from the Government's Unite Against COVID-19 account said that, among a range of requirements, people travelling to New Zealand from Australia "must" download and use the NZ COVID Tracer app while they are in the country.

Scientists in the UK have figured out the exact ingredient in the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine behind a few rare cases of anaphylaxis.

They're stressing the risk of the taking the vaccine is far outweighed by the dangers of contracting the virus, which has killed more than 3 million people worldwide in the past 14 months.

Medsafe, New Zealand's medical regulatory body, says there have been 147 adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccines since the rollout commenced on February 20 - but one doctor believes these cases "are not unexpected".

A report shows the most common reaction is dizziness (27 cases), headaches (21), nausea (18), and fainting (18).

 Kiwis now have access to a dashboard of data detailing how New Zealand's COVID-19 vaccination rollout is progressing.

The statistics, which will be updated weekly, include the number of vaccinations individual District Health Boards (DHBs) have administered as well as the age and sex of those who have received the jab.
