Hundreds of Iranians have taken to the streets of Tehran to protest their government's "lies" over the downing of a Ukrainian plane.
After it crashed on January 8, the Iranian authorities denied speculation they'd accidentally shot it down, amid tensions with the US. One even claimed it was "scientifically impossible" for the Boeing 737-800 to have been hit by an Iranian missile.

The first two years of the Coalition government have been a pleasant surprise for those interested in defence matters.
They have a coherent defence story, particularly well set out in the 2019 Capability Plan, which builds on the work of the previous National government. They have been able to make the big multibillion-dollar procurement decisions, something that eluded the previous government. The Coalition government has even managed to gain some degree of acceptance from the Green Party about the direction of defence policy.

The United States has approved the sale of up to 12 F-35 fighter jets — one of the most advanced warplanes ever built — to Singapore for around $2.75 billion, officials said Friday.
The city-state last year said it planned to buy four of the jets, with an option to purchase eight more, picking the Lockheed Martin model over rivals from Europe and China.

OPINION: Wow! It's a word I've uttered more than a few times over the past two weeks and sometimes the language used has been much stronger.
Roading tripping around the South Island over the silly season has been an eye-opening experience and at times, nothing short of dangerous. When we were handed the keys to our rental car in Nelson, the gentleman passing them to me said, "good luck".
