At the 1pm case update on Thursday, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said the current cluster had been closely linked to a Sydney traveller who arrived in New Zealand on August 7 and was put into managed isolation at the Crowne Plaza.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — The New Zealand Defence Force is using a virtual reality platform that is helping drivers train for amphibious assault missions, a military official told Defense News.
Eight360′s NOVA is an immersive, untethered VR platform shaped like a ball that allows for 360-degree movement on all axes. Mark Baddeley, director of emerging technologies for NZDF’s Joint Defence Services, said the Army is eyeing it to improve driver safety.

A brief recent history of New Zealand’s involvement in Afghanistan shows all too clearly the incompetence of Prime Minister Ardern, Foreign Minister Mahuta and Defence Minister Henare. The last Kiwi troops left Afghanistan in May this year. There has been constant calls since then to allow Afghans who supported our efforts and whose lives would be at risk to come to New Zealand. Ardern and her Cabinet have spent the time since then in a ‘Nero-like’ consideration of the ‘immigration settings’ for this with Immigration Minister Faafoi doing his best to hide from the media outlets he used to work for as a journalist.

Armed Taliban members knocked on doors in cities across Afghanistan on Wednesday, witnesses said, telling fearful residents to return to their jobs a day after the militants announced they wanted to revive the country's battered economy.
Widespread destruction during a 20-year war between U.S.-backed government forces and the Taliban, the drop in local spending due to departing foreign troops, a tumbling currency and lack of dollars are fuelling economic crisis in the country.

As the Taliban tightens its grip on Afghanistan’s capital, there’s concern the group’s rapid takeover may result in a downward spiral for the country’s freedoms despite the organisation claiming to be more moderate.
Fighters met little resistance as they entered Kabul on Monday, quickly taking control of the presidential palace and subsequently, Afghanistan’s seat of power.
