New Zealand Defence Force personnel working as part of international sanctions enforcement against North Korea have detected and reported illicit ship-to-ship transfers and vessels of interest.
In April the Government committed a Royal New Zealand Air Force P-3K2 Orion maritime patrol aircraft in support of United Nations Security Council sanctions against North Korea.

ACT leader David Seymour is sceptical about what one economist has described as a "positive surprise" increase in New Zealand's gross domestic product (GDP).
GDP is calculated by comparing what the Government owes with what it produces. Figures released on Thursday show it increased 1.6 percent in the first three months of this year.

New Zealand Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rose 1.6 percent in first quarter of this year, latest figures show.
In an announcement on Thursday, Statistics New Zealand confirmed GDP, a measure of growth in national outputs, rose 1.6 percent during the March 2021 quarter.

The Reserve Bank is looking to restrict lending to house buyers whose debts outstrip their income - a tool known as debt-to-income (DTI) ratio limits.
Finance Minister Grant Robertson has agreed "in principle" to allow DTIs, which the Reserve Bank has described as "likely to be the most effective additional tool" to help stabilise ballooning house prices.

Wellington retailers in the central shopping corridor are scared a plan to ban cars from the area will cause businesses to close or abandon the area.
What is known as the Golden Mile - Lambton Quay, Manners and Willis Streets and Courtenay Place - will only be open to buses, cyclists and pedestrians.

Wellington is moving ahead with plans to ban cars from four main "golden mile" streets - Courtenay Place, Lambton Quay, Manners and Willis Streets.
The streets will only be open to buses, cyclists and pedestrians. Side streets will also be closed off where they intersect with them.
Car parks would be removed and footpaths widened, and Midland Park on Lambton Quay would also be expanded.
