A few days ago, I read an article by Oliver Hartwich, the executive director of the New Zealand Initiative, entitled “Time for ANZAC 2.0”. I generally agree with material produced by the New Zealand Initiative, and in particular with articles written by Dr Hartwich. But not this time.

I agree that the "on again off again", "stop, go" way we do defence procurements between the left and right wing parties makes it very hard to get anything done.
We need a proper and clear long term bipartisan strategic plan that both parties agree with in principle, this can then help with what is needed for our defence force to go forward and do the job.
