However, in the 20th century, Great Britain fought two wars in Europe and decolonized, losing most of its empire worldwide. The country also saw a decline in relative power and influence within the international system, with the U.S. taking its place as a world power. The days of Pax Britannica might be over, but Brexit became the latest British movement away from European affairs, with Britain officially leaving the European Union on December 31, 2020.

Instagram has introduced new policies to protect the platform's younger users - including banning adults they don't follow from messaging them.
The Facebook-owned photo-sharing site said soon any adult who tries to message an under 18-year-old they don't follow will receive a notification saying the action isn't allowed.

A new UK dog owner has returned their supposed-fur-ever-friend after they realised it "didn't match the sofa."
Former CEO of London's Battersea Dogs and Cats Home Claire Horton told the BBC around 10 percent of dogs they rehome are later returned.

The New Zealand Government is financially linked to a Chinese company whose technology is used in the Chinese Government’s persecution of Uyghurs.
The links come through government backing of at least two New Zealand entities that have partnered with the Chinese artificial intelligence giant iFlytek.

A Twitter exchange between Scottish authorities and a member of the public has gone viral after Queen Elizabeth II was mistaken for a giant navy ship with a similar name.
Scotland police issued a public notice advising that due to the presence of HMS Queen Elizabeth in the Firth of Clyde, no aircraft were allowed to fly within 3 nautical miles of the ship.
