Efforts to put together a global treaty on pandemic preparedness and response are taking too long, a group co-led by former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark has concluded.
The Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response was set up by the World Health Organization (WHO) last year to assess the response to COVID-19, and find ways to prevent it from happening again.

What doesn't kill you might actually make you weaker if it's COVID-19, a new study has found.
Researchers in the US who tracked hundreds of patients for 12 months, and found those who'd been ill enough to require hospital care were more than twice as likely to die in the months after they recovered than those who never caught the virus.

Tel Aviv is the world's most expensive city to live in, a new report shows, the Israeli city sitting ahead of other urban centres such as Paris, Singapore, Zurich, Hong Kong and New York.
According to the latest Worldwide Cost of Living report released by Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), a soaring currency, rising house prices and costly goods caused Tel Aviv to move from fifth-most expensive last year, to most expensive in 2021.

Dozens of soldiers and police officers will travel to the Solomon Islands to assist the local government after days of deadly rioting and unrest, and a mounting humanitarian crisis.
The crisis erupted last week with three days of rioting, blamed partly on poverty, hunger and frustration with government policies.
