KiwiBuild's 100,000 homes target has been scrapped and will not be replaced as part of the Government's sweeping project reset.
A reset of the affordable housing policy unveiled today makes major changes, including a $400m progressive ownership scheme for up to 4000 families and a shift for wider support for first-home buyers, so buyers with as little as a five per cent deposit will be eligible for Government-backed loans and KiwiSaver withdrawals.

Five helicopters and three ambulances have been sent ot the scene of a bus rollover on the main highway out of Rotorua.
The bus rolled on State Highway 5, near Waiohotu Rd and Galaxy Rd, Mamaku, on Wednesday morning.

Tenants who moved into a brand-new rental unit have trashed the property, stabbing hundreds of holes in the walls and floor and tearing off doors.
Landlord Anthony Dacre said the damage was discovered when the tenants, a young family, were evicted from the home in St Albans, Christchurch.
He found hundreds of stab and punch holes in the walls, doors ripped off their hinges and other door panels broken, holes in the floor vinyl, writing on the walls, broken glass, the oven door pulled apart, and even foot marks on the ceiling.
