Newshub can reveal the man who allegedly escaped from quarantine (MIQ) earlier this month was released early from MIQ and sent home without spending a full 14 days in a facility.
And it's not just him. The Ministry of Health admits quarantine facilities in Auckland aren't yet following strict new 14-day Delta rules because of capacity constraints.

Interim name suppression has lapsed for William Willis (35) and Hannah Rawnsley (26), who police say crossed the Level 4 border from Auckland using essential worker exemptions before driving to Hamilton Airport on Thursday.

One more week of level 4 restrictions is "probably not" a long enough time to contain the Auckland COVID-19 Delta outbreak, University of Auckland epidemiologist Professor Rod Jackson says.
Prof Jackson told Checkpoint the Government's decision on Monday was the right one, "but I think they should have said: 'Unless Aucklanders are staunch, it's going to be at least two weeks'."

Queenstown Lakes District's mayor is calling for action to be taken against the "selfish" Auckland couple who travelled to Wanaka during lockdown.
The couple – a 26-year-old woman and 35-year-old man – crossed the Auckland alert level 4 border using essential worker exemptions, drove to Hamilton Airport and then flew to their holiday home in Wanaka.
