More evidence is emerging that coronavirus infections are being spread by people who have no clear symptoms, complicating efforts to gain control of the pandemic.
A study conducted by researchers in Singapore and published by the US Centres for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention on Wednesday (Thursday NZ time) is the latest to estimate that around 10 per cent of new coronavirus infections may be sparked by people who were infected with the virus but not experiencing symptoms.

Fletcher Building has proposed its executives take a 15 per cent cut in pay, but other staff could see a 70 per cent slash in income in the weeks after the coronavirus lockdown.
Last week staff said they were uncertain about their pay during the month-long Covid-19 lockdown, after the company said the Government's wage subsidy programme would determine how it would pay staff after this week.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern unleashed on 20-somethings who weren't taking the coronavirus seriously at her daily press conference today.
She said 20-29-year-olds were the most infected with Covid-19 and while they might not be in as much danger as older people, they were currently acting as the main vector for transmission in New Zealand.

Homeware giant Harvey Norman is refusing to pay rent on some stores during the level 4 lockdown.
The Australian-owned company sent the letter to a number of landlords around New Zealand on March 25 telling them that it would not pay rent while its stores were closed.

The Ministry of Health has confirmed New Zealand has 47 new confirmed cases and 14 probable cases of COVID-19, taking the country's total to 708 cases.
There are no new deaths and 82 cases have now recovered in total. There are 14 cases in hospital, with two of those being in intensive care units. Those two patients are stable.
