New Zealand has again come out on top in the World Bank's annual rankings of the best places to do business.

They compare 190 economies for their ease of doing business, from starting a business through to resolving insolvency and protecting minority investors.

However, the World Bank has called for our country to give more aid money to the financial institution.

Kiwi-born Vice President of Human Development Annette Dixon told Heather du Plessis-Allan that New Zealand is a member of the International Development Agency, which helps the poorest countries in the world, for 40 years.

"Every dollar that New Zealand gives to this fund, we're able to turn it into $3 to the countries that we support."

She says that the fund is very active in the Pacific Islands, which has links with New Zealand's goals.

Dixon says it is important that the New Zealand public knows how the money they are donating is being spent.
