The ugly Flintstones-style house in the Auckland suburb of Mt Roskill described by the listing agent as a "disaster" has failed to sell at auction.
The house was passed in at auction on October 15 after no advances on the starting bid of $500,000.
But agent Alex Yang of Barfoot and Thompson, who had the dubious pleasure of selling the property he openly described as a "disaster", said he is confident of negotiating a conditional sale with an interested party.
The house, which is part "Flintstones" and part faux-modern, leaks ("major water ingress issues" are noted) and it has no Code Compliance Certificate.

When introducing the property at the auction, the auctioneer commented that the house would be purchased "as is, where is" and described it as "one of the most interesting homes in New Zealand". "It's an opportunity to bag a bargain," she said.
The real estate listing said: "The master dwelling (which has no CCC!) offers 4 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms (incl ensuite), but unfortunately requires major recladding or perhaps even demolishing. Plus – there is a second connecting minor 'Flintstone-style' dwelling which has 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom."
"Forget about the $910,000 CV – we are talking 'Land Value' only here ($790,000). Don't delay your plans. This vendor is most eager and ready to sell."
The minor dwelling, which pops off the side of the house like a lopsided cake, has curved, roughcast walls, both outside and in. Some walls have been painted in very bright colours, and there is visible mould on one of the white walls.
