We had this one planned as Rhubarb Cafe is not usually open over the weekend however Xaria found out that they will be open on the Monday of Queens Birthday Weekend. So we decided we will go then. I was feeling a little under the weather as we had a few drinks the night before, however putting something in my stomach helps. So today's write up is mainly done by Xaria.

Rhubarb Cafe
Today's mission was to Rhubarb in Roslyn as it is no longer open on the weekends but is open on stat days so Queen's Birthday was a good day to go. There were a few Queen's birthday decorations in the window which was nice.

I confirmed on facebook that they were open before we left.  Parking in Roslyn is always interesting, but we found a park with no troubles today.

We got there just before 10 and it was quite quiet, only one person ahead of us placing an order while we looked at the serve over options.Reasonably easy decision - cheese muffin for both and a pastie for Nighthawk as there were no sausage rolls (served with relish and a little side salad) and a rhubarb friand for me (offered a choice of yoghurt or cream which was  a nice touch not often offered)  Normal coffees large flat white and large soy flat white.  Very reasonable cost of $36.50 which included a public holiday surcharge.

Cheese Muffin (Very nice) and Pastie
Muffins came out quickly and were the nicest savoury muffins I have had and the friand was very tender.  Nighthawk enjoyed his pastie.

The coffee took a long time to come.  We were considering checking if the order had been misplaced when they came out.  I think they were prioritising take away orders as a person went out with a full carry tray but had come in after us.  The coffee was very strong for my taste but was a very good size. It looks like there are many regulars even on a stat day and the staff were pleasant.
Decor in Rhubarb Cafe... The other side was different.

Nice atmosphere - dining is split into two sections and we chose the side with a radiant heater but had a slightly more lunch room feel with old school matching formica tables.  The other side seemed to have slightly more free flow seating.

I would quite likely pick up another of their muffins if  I was in the area.
