China has described the United States as "A bully with a cold war mentality," after Biden announced the US would help Taiwan if they invaded.

On Monday (local time) the US President said during a press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, that he would be willing to prepare a military defence for Taiwan if China was to invade.

ITV's China Correspondent Debi Edward told Newshub Nation, Biden did not go to China during his Asia tour, making it the first time in 20 years since a US President has decided not to go to the country as a part of their tour.

"President Biden decided not to come and that is only just fermenting poorer relations between the two nations."

Edward said China and the United States' relationship is at its lowest in 40 years, with President Biden claiming it has been the biggest "strategic challenge and its biggest foreign policy challenge."

China claims the United States is trying to generate allies within the region and potentially forming an Asian NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization), which could be China's tipping point to invade Taiwan, The ITV reporter told Newshub Nation.

The expansion of NATO was Russia's tipping point for invading Ukraine, which started in February.
