There are concerns about what Islamic children are learning from unqualified or inexperienced teachers at mosques.

President of the International Muslim Association of New Zealand, Tahir Nawaz, at Kilbirnie Mosque in Wellington last March after the shootings in Christchurch.

International Muslim Association of New Zealand president Tahir Nawaz is calling for Islamic curriculum to be taught in intermediate and secondary schools.

He told Heather du Plessis-Allan parents of Muslim children want them to retain their religion.

He says if Islam was taught at school, it may reduce radicalisation.

"All the material and all the teachers would be vetted, and also they are properly qualified."
