After China clearly “stepped up its aggression” in the South China Sea during the COVID-19 pandemic, Australia has had enough of the communist regime’s posturing, says Sky News host Sharri Markson.

“Australia has for a long time said that China and other countries should settle their disputes around the South China Sea in accordance with international law,” Ms Markson said. “This position, by and large, has kept China satisfied”. Australia’s UN envoy Mitch Fifield has filed a declaration at the United Nations rejecting China’s maritime claims around contested islands in the South China Sea. Australia is now claiming China’s actions are inconsistent with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and therefore invalid. “Basically, Australia is saying in no uncertain terms that China’s actions are illegal,” Ms Markson said.
