A notorious Auckland street has become a no-pizza-zone after a number of delivery drivers were assaulted over the space of few short weeks.

Domino's Pukekohe have put Holland St on a blacklist for places they will not send their staff.

In 2017, Dominos in Rotorua refused to deliver to Fordlands, the suburb that inspired the movie Once were Warriors, after one of their delivery vehicles was stolen

Resident Julianne van Raalte says she found this information the hard way after trying to order a pizza to her home on August 22.

"So I placed the online and all of a sudden I got this phone call ten minutes later that 'hey we're actually going to cancel this delivery because we don't deliver to ... street anymore'."

"They said don't deliver for health and safety reasons, they've had a few assaults in the street."

It's not the first time a Domino's store has made such a decision. In 2017, Domino's in Rotorua refused to deliver to Fordlands, the suburb that inspired the movie Once were Warriors, after one of their delivery vehicles was stolen.

Van Raalte said she understood the logic as the street was known gang-related territory and some teenagers in the area have a reputation for intimidation and violence.

"It's a really difficult street. Me and my husband actually want to get out of here," she said.

Domino's spokeswoman confirmed they had stopped deliveries to Holland Street due to "safety concerns".

However, she was rather annoyed took three days receive a refund on the card she used to purchase the pizza online.

"That was the last of my cash, so you're telling me my kids aren't going to have food tonight because you didn't put a stop valve on your online system?"

Eventually, after a "firm but friendly" conversation with the store manager, they made an exception and the pizza was delivered.

A Domino's spokeswoman confirmed they had stopped deliveries to Holland St due to "safety concerns for our team members".

Resident Julianne van Raalte says she found out about the non-delivery the hard way after trying to order a Pizza to her home on August 22.

They had not stopped deliveries to any other streets in the area.

"The safety of our team members is our highest priority and this decision was not taken lightly," the spokesperson said.

"Domino's understands this decision is disappointing to our local customers in that area and we thank them for their understanding."

When Stuff attempted to place an order, a Domino's operator said they stopped deliveries after "three or four drivers were assaulted in a few weeks."
